Terms of Service
Gotta Go
Effective Date: September 10, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Gotta Go — the mobile application and the pages at bearacle.com/gotta-go (together, the "Service"), published by Bearacle LLC. By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. What the Service Is
Gotta Go helps you find public toilets near you, using data from OpenStreetMap, and shows details such as whether a toilet is free, wheelchair accessible, or has a baby-changing table. The Service is free to use.
Signed-in users can also add a toilet to the map or leave a rating for one, so the map improves for everyone using it. Neither is required to use the Service.
2. Accounts Are Optional
You do not need an account to search for toilets, view their details, or get directions. Signing in with Apple or Google is needed only to add a new toilet or leave a rating.
Keep your sign-in method secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time — see Delete Your Account.
3. Contributions
If you add a toilet or leave a rating, you confirm that, to the best of your knowledge, the information is accurate and you have the right to share it.
- You grant Bearacle a worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and distribute what you contribute as part of the Service.
- Contributions you add are kept separately from OpenStreetMap's own dataset, so that adding a toilet through Gotta Go does not place OpenStreetMap's share-alike license over our database. They are shown alongside OpenStreetMap data on the map either way.
- You can add one new toilet per 24 hours per account, and you can remove a toilet you added at any time from within the app.
- We may remove a listing or a rating that is inaccurate, abusive, spam, or otherwise breaches these Terms, and may suspend an account that repeatedly does this.
4. Toilet Data Is Provided As-Is
Toilet locations, hours, fees, and accessibility details come from OpenStreetMap contributors and from other users of the app. We do not inspect toilets in person, and this information can be wrong, outdated, or missing — a listing can close, move, or turn out not to match what is shown.
Use your judgment, and verify what matters to you before you rely on it — particularly accessibility and opening hours, where being wrong matters most. We are not liable for the state of a toilet, or the accuracy of any listing, once you get there.
5. Location and Directions
Finding toilets near you depends on location access, which you can decline; searching for a city by name still works without it. Tapping "Get Directions" hands you off to Google Maps, which is Google's own service and outside our control from that point on.
6. Acceptable Use
- Do not submit a fake, duplicate, or intentionally misleading listing.
- Do not use ratings to harass a business or an individual, or to manipulate a toilet's standing.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or the systems behind it, including the map and geocoding services it queries on your behalf.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches this section.
7. Third Parties
The Service relies on infrastructure we do not operate: OpenStreetMap's Overpass and Nominatim services supply toilet locations and search, OpenFreeMap and Esri supply map tiles, and Apple or Google may provide your sign-in. Their own terms apply to their own services. They are not responsible for the Service, and the Service is not responsible for them.
8. Availability
We may change what the Service offers, or stop offering it, at any time. We are not liable for any loss arising from the Service being unavailable.
9. Intellectual Property
- The Gotta Go name, the app's design, interface, text, and software are the property of Bearacle LLC and are protected by copyright and other laws.
- Toilet location data itself is © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL); this is separate from Bearacle's own rights in the app, and the app credits OpenStreetMap on every screen that shows its data.
- You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our permission.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any listing is accurate, current, or that a toilet will be open, free, or usable when you arrive.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bearacle LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service, including relying on a listing that turned out to be wrong.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount, if any, you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we do, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.
